 Our standards

Standards and independent audits: For reliable climate protection at VentureGrid

The success and effectiveness of climate protection projects are at the heart of our work. As a reliable partner in the energy and climate protection industry, we ensure that all projects meet the highest standards and exploit their full potential for CO₂ reduction.

Our quality approach

A clearly defined process guarantees that climate protection projects follow international standards, are continuously monitored and regularly reviewed. Verified emission reductions are only issued if they have been previously validated by independent, accredited auditors.

The Importance of Standards

International standards such as the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) , the Gold Standard (GS) or the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) form the basis for all climate protection projects. They guarantee:

  • Consistency and comparability : Verified emission reductions are consistently traceable on both voluntary and mandatory CO₂ markets.
  • Transparency and reliability : Standards define the technological requirements, methodologies and monitoring plans for each project.

Our core standards

  • Verified Carbon Standard (VCS): Focus on forest protection projects (REDD+), reforestation and renewable energies.
  • Gold Standard (GS): Focus on social development projects, such as clean cooking stoves, drinking water and agroforestry.
  • Clean Development Mechanism (CDM): Projects in developing countries to achieve international climate goals.

Additionally, we accept standards such as the American Carbon Registry (ACR) or the Climate Action Reserve , which offer specific requirements and regional focus.

The role of independent auditors

Independent auditors (Validation and Verification Bodies, VVBs) such as TÜV Nord, SCS Global Services or Carbon Check evaluate and verify climate protection projects in several phases:

  1. Validation: Verification of the project idea and methodology using the Project Design Document (PDD).
  2. Monitoring: Continuous monitoring of project results by the project developer.
  3. Verification: External control of monitoring data to issue verified emission reductions.

These recurring review cycles ensure that projects adhere to established standards and methodologies.

The life cycle of a climate protection project

Standards accompany climate protection projects throughout their entire life cycle and define essential principles:

  • Project design: Detailed criteria and monitoring plans.
  • Verification: Regular verification by independent bodies.
  • Certification: Issuing emission certificates based on proven CO₂ reductions.
